and it is supposed to be Afrikaans, but it has Thai characters in it. What was it supposed to be?

There are similar problems in other languages as well. Needs rework and strong filters on the lexicons of all languages.

For what it's worth - it looks like the word should be beindruk, which means impress or impressed https://translate.google.co.uk/#af/en/beindruk

If I get Google to translate the other way, it gives beïndruk, with a diaeresis.
