I sometimes had the situation that the TB bridge was not working. I used Settings -> Network -> TB Bridge:
That and unplugging / re-plugging the TB cable helped sometimes. Once I had the situation that only a cold boot helped. Be patient, after "make active", it takes a few (10?) seconds until DHCP fails and it decides to assign a 169...* IP. You don't need "Internet Sharing", that is completely unrelated. |

I'm keenly interested in TargetBridge. Hardware: M4 mini as my main workstation, M1 MacBook Pro, and a M2 mini server. For receivers I have a 27" Late 2015 iMac & a 27" 2017 iMac -both are i5 models with upgraded RAM. I've got the proper Thunderbolt cables plus a Thunderbolt 4 hub (and 10Gbps/5Gbps Ethernet).
I'd like to give some input if it would be helpful. I'm in California and have access to developer beta OS updates.
So far I've tried connecting the M4 mini with OS 26.6 to the 2017 iMac with OS 12.7.6. I can connect over ethernet but not Thunderbolt. The "Connect" button is grey'ed out when using Thunderbolt. I've tried tinkering with Thunderbolt Bridge + Internet Sharing but nothing helped. I know the hardware is ok because the similar software RetinaRelay works well with the same setup over Thunderbolt.
