Condense Roadmap

This document outlines the evolution of Condense from v1.0 through future milestones.

Current Release: v1.0.1

Status: Production-ready major milestone release Released: August 2026

Delivered in v1.0.0

  • Pillar 1 — Next-Gen Intelligence & Perceptual Compression
    • Perceptual SSIM & PSNR binary-search quality tuning (optimizePerceptualImage)
    • Automated Responsive Image Matrix generation with multi-breakpoint AVIF/WebP output and <picture> markup helpers (generateResponsiveMatrix)
    • Cross-Document Token Mangling across HTML, CSS, and JS (mangleTokens)
  • Pillar 2 — Enterprise Binary & Asset Processors
    • In-Memory SVG Spritesheet Packer (packSvgSprites)
    • In-Memory ZIP & Archive recursive optimizer with pure RAM decompression/repacking (optimizeZip)
    • SFNT & WOFF Font Table Stripper for TTF/OTF binaries (optimizeFont)
    • In-Memory PDF minification and stream optimization (optimizePdf)
  • Pillar 3 — Developer Platform & Enterprise Telemetry
    • Fluent Chainable Pipeline API (createPipeline)
    • Multi-Threaded Worker Pool leveraging worker_threads (WorkerPool, getWorkerPool)
    • Production Preset Engine with built-in recipes and custom registration (presetService)
    • Real-Time Bandwidth, Financial ROI, and Carbon Reduction Telemetry (telemetryService)
  • Core Engine & Platform
    • In-memory Buffer & Stream processing (zero temporary disk writes by default)
    • Full support for raster/vector images, audio/video streams, TypeScript/TSX, markup/styles, and WebAssembly
    • Three standardized optimization tiers: quality, balanced, and extreme
    • LRU caching, Express middleware, and standalone CLI

v1.1.0 (Q4 2026)

Media & Binary Enhancements

  • Hardware acceleration detection for FFmpeg transcoding where supported
  • WebP animation frame optimization and GIF-to-Animated WebP conversion
  • Extended WOFF2 brotli compression pipeline

Developer Experience

  • Official GitHub Action for CI/CD asset compression
  • Plugin interface for custom pipeline steps
  • VS Code and JetBrains IDE extensions for one-click asset condensation

v1.2.0 (Q1 2027)

Enterprise Scaling & Observability

  • OpenTelemetry exporter for telemetry metrics
  • S3/GCS direct stream connector for cloud-native asset ingestion
  • Docker container images with FFmpeg and native bindings optimized for Alpine / distroless

v2.0+ Considerations

  • Alternative runtime certifications (Bun, Deno, Cloudflare Workers via pure WASM builds)
  • Distributed worker cluster orchestration for terabyte-scale asset optimization queues
  • Chainable stream transform plugins and custom third-party format modules
