How to divide revisions by folders?

I want to have folder structure something like this:

alembic/versions/
└── 2025/
    └── 12/
        └── a1b2c3d4_add_users_table.py

Any natural way to do it?

Okay, appears I was just doing it wrong. Doing

file_template = %%(year)d/%%(month).2d/%%(day).2d_%%(hour).2d%%(minute).2d%%(second).2d_%%(rev)s_%%(slug)s

works as a charm

Do you want to add an issue for this? I think it's fine adding a mkdir(..., exists_ok=True) there unconditionally

yeah it's something we can do with the Path when we set up the destination

I tried again, and it worked. Btw, not setting revision_environment also worked for me.

I will create issue, and also create PR. Just to clarify, I should add mkdir to script/base:ScriptDirectory:_rev_path right?

not setting revision_environment recursive_version_locations wont prevent the directory from being created. it will prevent subsequent alembic commands from seeing your file.

As far as issue / PR it's already done and merged: #1774 merged in fd42cdd

that comment referred to recursive_version_locations. revision_environment only applies if you run revision without --autogenerate. so while you might not ever run without the autogenerate flag, it's probably a good idea to have it, otherwise if it ever does run without that option, the directory wont get created.
