Ability Scores

Stat Score Modifier Source
STR 18 +4 Founding engineer at Uber. Lead data at Unity.
DEX 16 +3 Data platforms → ml-agents → fintech. Ships across domains.

Proficiencies

Armor: Nix flakes, containers, bare-metal, /nix/store
Weapons: Scala, Go, Python, Nix, C, shell (Rust on the workbench)
Holy Symbol: λ — wielded through Nix, studied through Haskell
Tools: Kafka, Spanner, BigQuery, Dataflow, GKE
Saving Throw: Distributed systems (advantage), UNIX (expertise)
Weakness: Mechanical keyboards · Emacs (neither has an exit strategy)

Class Features

Channel Divinity: Demand-Driven Evaluation

Invoke Nix's native laziness to evaluate only what is demanded. No convergence loops. The Lambda provides.

Aura of Immutability (30 ft.)

Allied builds within range gain advantage on reproducibility checks. Hostile mutable state has disadvantage on persistence saves.

Domain Spells

Spell Level Spell Component
1st Deterministic Derivation /nix/store
3rd Scope Graph Ward Neron 2015
5th Higher-Order Tree Expansion Vogt 1989
7th Intensional Identity Palmer 2024
9th Fleet-Scale Materialization lib.fix

Current Quest

Main Quest: Den v2 — The HOAG Architecture

Nix lacks tools for relationships between systems — discovery, topology, cross-host policy. Den fills that gap: one laptop to a thousand hosts, validated before prod.

Artifacts — all gen libraries shipped:

⚗️ gen-algebra 📜 gen-schema 🔮 gen-aspects
🌳 gen-scope 🗺️ gen-graph 🎯 gen-select
🔗 gen-bind ⚖️ gen-derive 🏰 den (assembly begins)

All artifacts tested. The final boss awaits.

Side quest: Publication — scope graphs + HOAG + aspects over Nix's laziness.

Backstory

A founding cleric at the Temple of Uber, Jason raised the world's then-largest Kafka congregation — thousands of consumers drinking 500+ GiB/s of sacred event data — and built the provisioning altar that brought hundreds of thousands of bare-metal hosts online.

At the Temple of Unity he tended 10 billion daily offerings, championed the privacy of the faithful through GDPR compliance and cryptographic protections, and joined the ml-agents expedition to bring reinforcement learning to the cloud.

After years of 3 AM pages, emergency patches, and fighting to protect user data from those who would exploit it, he left the front lines to study the ancient texts — Knuth, Neron, Palmer — seeking a better way to build.

He found it in the Lambda. Systems should be correct by construction, not by convergence. He returned wielding the Lambda, pursuing his magnum opus — MIT licensed, free for all adventurers.

Party Recruitment (Sponsorship)

This cleric works for the people, not the guild. All artifacts are open source and freely available. But crafting legendary items takes time, and time requires gold.
