Path 1: Active Knowledge Management
Detect when stored knowledge is likely outdated based on:
- Time since last corroboration (memory hasn't been retrieved or reinforced)
- Domain decay rates (technology facts stale faster than personal preferences)
- Contradiction signals (newer memories conflict with older ones)
- External invalidation (code changes detected via active invalidation, inspired by hippo-memory)
Stale memories get reduced confidence automatically during sleep cycles.
Design
- Add staleness_score to warm_tier (computed during Phase 1 scoring)
- Domain-specific decay rates in agent metadata
- Sleep cycle Phase 2: auto-reduce confidence on memories exceeding staleness threshold
- Active invalidation: monitor for correction patterns in new memories
