Top Panel Note Extension

The Top Panel Note extension allows you to quickly add and view a static note from the GNOME Shell top panel. It's a convenient way to store small snippets of information, such as a lookup table or reminders, that you can access with just a click.

Prerequisites

  • GNOME Shell 45 or later

Installation

From GNOME Extensions Website

Usage

  • Adding a Note:

    • Click the extension icon in the top panel.
    • Enter your note in the panel that appears.
    • Your note will be displayed in the top panel.
  • Editing a Note:

    • Click the extension icon in the top panel.
    • Edit your previous note in the panel that appears.
  • Resize the window:

    • Click and drag the empty space right to the scrollbar to resize the window.
  • Tip

    • If you want to format the note properly, you can edit the text file containing the information (~/.cache/top_panel_note_cache.txt).
    • Then press Alt+F2, type 'r' and press enter↵ to restart the gnome-shell to take effects.
