Problem in Nova when trying to create an instance

I am trying to create an instance after completing the steps (I have set the hostname as 'controller') and I get the scheduler error:

Error: Failed to perform requested operation on instance "testcirros", the instance has an error status: Please try again later [Error: Host 'ubuntu' is not mapped to any cell].

contents of /etc/hosts:
root@controller:/etc# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost controller
127.0.1.1 controller

The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts

::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
192.168.136.131 controller

also the tail output of nova-manage cell_v2 discover_hosts is:

CantStartEngineError: No sql_connection parameter is established

@edrimon After the compute node is brought up (and detected in the controller), did you run the "nova-manage cell_v2 discover_hosts --verbose" command?

I am guessing that "ubuntu" is the name of your compute node.

Lastly, the /etc/hosts you have pasted is from the compute node?

Hi, the answers to most of the questions are already there. I have ran the nova-manage command and it fails with the SQL error message that you can see above. The /etc/hosts I pasted is from the controller as the prompt hostname says. Yes "ubuntu" is the hostname of the compute node. The /etc/hosts in the compute has similarly <Ip compute> ubuntu <ip controller> controller

Sorry for the delay. I tried recently and things were working fine for me. Can you try removing the loop back hostname in the controller - remove controller from the lines starting with 127.0..... I suspect that MySQL is binding to only loop back ip.

If that does not work, please share the nova config files in the controller and the compute.
