dd - scs2.device write error -3.

HI,
I ran this command to transfer an image from my CD to my 128GB CF Card.
$ dd CD0:PART001 scs2.device 0
It works but the my Amiga freezes after writing approx. 2MB of data.

I ran this command hoping to get better results and got an scs2 device write error (-3).
$ dd CD0:PART001 scs2.device 0 CMD=TD64

Executing the same commands on scsi.device seems to work ok.

Hi,

scsi.device supports TD64, but scs2.device does not. Check the supported commands for each device driver with dd INSPECT .... dd allows CMD=TD64 as an override, but the override currently assumes that both the source and target device drivers can use the same command family. If one of them does not support the selected command, the operation fails with error -3 (IOERR_NOCMD). That is expected and correctly reported.

For your use case, I expect you would need TD64 for the source side and NSCMD for the target side, because scs2.device supports NSCMD but not TD64. Selecting different command families for source and target is not implemented at the moment.

I’ll keep this issue open for now. I do not currently have enough time to implement this, but patches are welcome.
