mwlib is now available for Python3.8+ (or so they say), but it's not a simple drop in replacement. There are Python3.x incompatibilities all over the place, so I went back and used python2.7, building all the dependencies, because Ubuntu 20.04 dropped most of the pre-built packages mentioned.
