Output from Simhub/PropertyServer fails after page switch on StreamDeck, must restart Simhub to recover

The basics-

Running Le Mans Ultimate, so needing to run other plugins including NeoRed LMU Data Plugin, LMUSessionDataPlugin, and LMUElectronicBridge to get complete telemetry since there is still a lot missing officially.

Intel 12600FK, 64 GB DDR4, Win11, RTX 3060 TI, Updated StreamDeck Software and all plugins and software updated.

Occasionally (enough to catch it in the logs easily but not enough to reproduce it on demand), I get an error that causes all properties to stop streaming to the StreamDeck from SimHub when switching pages on the StreamDeck. I run telemetry on nearly every page, but it does seem to happen the most when going from a page with no telemetry to one with telemetry.

I get this error every time this fails.

Thank you for reporting. I also keep getting disconnects, which I have always solved by restarting SimHub. Let's see if I can find the root cause.

The strange thing is that the connection is dead, I kill it in the SimHub plugin, and there is not the slightest indication in the Stream Deck plugin that anything has happened to the connection.

Yeah, full Simhub restart is the only thing that fixes it. I wish it was consistent about how it happens. I’ve seen similar error behavior with other plugins like the NeoRed and similar plugins when a value is queried that is null, the plugin would crash, but the plugin had a health check and would restart after a 30s pause, is that something that could be done? I have no clue what that takes or if it’s even technically possible here. Thank you for the work you’ve done, and let me know if there is any testing you’d like me to try on this. I was watching netstat on this and I’m not seeing multiple ports opening for these plugins, is it possible they are fighting for a port? I tried moving prop server to another port but nothing worked after a restart and I didn’t know what to do about that so I wasn’t able to actually test that as a possibility.

I could restart the plugin, it's a sledgehammer approach, but it's a good idea.

You can change the port. In SimHub in the UI (you already found it). For the Stream Deck plugin it has to be done in the file appsettings.json in the plugin directory (%APPDATA%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\net.planetrenner.simhub.sdPlugin). This file will get overwritten with new versions of the Stream Deck plugin.
