Which distro and version are you running on? Presently php-node is built with libzip-dev@1.7.3 as that's what the node:22-slim docker image pulls. Can you downgrade your libzip version?

Note that I compiled my PHP without readline. It seems the libphp.so file in the npm/linux-x64-gnu directory was built with a different set of requirements, hence the conflicts.

How do I specify my custom-built libphp.so so that it uses that instead?

Alright, after getting this to compile, the following was required to get it to run. Since there is no post-build install command, you either have to move the compiled files into the right place in node_modules (amend file and dir names if needed for your target os/architecture):

Or better yet, just copy everything into the same dir as libphp—you don't need the package in node_modules if you've compiled from source:
