Recover Unsaved Changes After Crash

Autosaving could be implemented with interval 1-5-10 munutes (by user's choice). Sometimes I forget to press Ctrl+S.

But the application already reminds you to save unsaved changes when closing it ?
I'm also planning to add a Save button directly to the main form for quicker access.

That's a fair point. However, automatic saving directly to the original file can also be risky, as users may accidentally save unwanted changes without noticing.

A safer approach would be an auto-recovery mechanism that periodically stores temporary backup data and offers recovery after a crash or power outage.

It should be optional, not by default, to prevent unwanted changes etc.

I think a recovery mechanism would be a better solution than autosave.

With autosave, users may unintentionally overwrite files with changes they did not want to keep. Recovery files are safer because they only help restore work after a crash, power outage, or other unexpected shutdown, while leaving the original file untouched.

The idea is to periodically save the current document state to a temporary recovery file. During a normal application shutdown, this recovery file would be removed. If the application detects an existing recovery file on startup, it means the previous session ended unexpectedly, and the user would be offered the option to restore the unsaved changes.
