Crash/closure not being identified/not recoverable while using X-plane 12 and for MSFS 2024 while identified cannot recover - stable 2.1.241

This are the 3 test done (X-plane)

• If you start the ACARS before the sim, when the sim gets up and running to moves from "Connecting to Sim ..." and identify it is running (this works sometimes and sometimes no. as updated below)
• If you "Pause" and "Unpause" it does continue to work. Data stops changing while in "Pause" and when unpaused it does continue getting data, but does not highlight that the sim has paused (This test was on the ground, but as mentioned later in the air does work)
• If the sim crashes/close, it does not detect that the connectivity was lost but you can see data stops flowing, and when you restart the sim, it does not reconnect, and you need to close and reopen ACARS for it to retake the flight. Somebody may think it reconnected as no error message is identified, but if you open the data window nothing is flowing.

I just found that when in "Connecting to the sim ..." it only works when you have X-plane on main screen before selecting the flight, meaning you start your flight after being on the X-plane main screen. If you start your flight before having X-plane open, after X-plane is up and running on the airplane does not connect similarly when a crash happens.

I'm guessing that if does not connect to the simulator plugin when starting flight, then the connection remains in an unstable state, but if you are on the main page of the X-plane, probably the plugin is already running, get connectivity but waiting for the positioning of the aircraft, and that the reason works on that scenario

In the case of MSFS2024 test that I did, it will generally will not allow to "Start Flight", unless you are on ground already.
Messages when you "Start Flight" are:

• "Connection Failed Could not connect to MSFS: Unexpected HRESULT has been returned from a call to a COM component."
• "Start Error You must be on the ground to start"

But I was able to recreate a similar scenario than in X-plane, if you click "Start Flight" when MSFS2024 is on the "Loading World Data" stage (at that time FSUIPC was starting), it gets into the "Connecting to the sim ..." status and stays there similarly when you do in for X-plane before starting X-plane

I know this is not a common scenario, but was trying to see if I was able to reproduce something similar and get into a unknown state like X-plane

Pause/Unapuse on MSFS 2024 is detected but only while on air, and I validated it on X-plane the same, so I guess by design it was built only to detect when on the air. If that is the case then no additional action required with Pause/Unpause

About recovering from crash, even on MSFS2024, while it does identify a "Sim client disconnected", when you restart the simulator again it does not reconnect. You need to close ACARS and reopen to get reconnected.
