On boards with a TC358743 capture chip (C790, Waveshare 19137) the device now speaks HDMI-CEC: it sits on the cable as a TV would. The HDMI icon at the bottom of the console shows what the source says it is, and a remote button appears next to the keyboard when a source answers. Tried with a Steam Deck in its dock: the menus and sleep work, wake does not.
What it is for: your parents' TV box or a kid's console stops working and nobody at home knows what to do - they move its HDMI cable from the TV to the KVM, and you fix it from your browser. Or a Kodi or Plex box with no keyboard.

If you have a TV box, a console or a Raspberry Pi on the HDMI side, I would like to hear whether the remote drives it.
