We're excited to announce the release of Scrumooth v3.0.0, our largest release to date — a major milestone that deepens Scrumooth's founding promise: to be the gatekeeper, not the note-taker. Self-hosted, open-source, and built to enforce the 2020 Scrum Guide as executable code, so your team spends less time arguing about process and more time shipping working software.

This release is a major version bump with breaking changes, so please review the migration notes below before upgrading.

Scrumooth v3.0.0 flips the script. It embeds Scrum Guide compliance natively into the workflow, so the rules your team already agreed to are enforced automatically — not just suggested.

⚡ What's new

🛡️ Scrum Guide Compliance Enforcement

Scrumooth now actively enforces the 2020 Scrum Guide across your entire workflow on the top of the Scrumooth v2:

• Maximum Scrum Team size — enforce a default cap of 10 members
• Single Product Owner / Scrum Master — one PO and one SM per Scrum Team
• Developers-only sizing — only DEVELOPERS may assign story points to PBIs
• Developers-only assignments — tasks can only be assigned to DEVELOPERS
• Developers self-management — protection for task handling by the Developers
• Task state transitions — restricted to DEVELOPERS
• Sprint Goal & DoD verification — enforced during sprint execution
• Role permissions on active Sprint — role-based permissions for active Sprint operations
• Sprint cancellation — a new feature for the Product Owner

🎯 Daily Scrum — Goal-Focused Inspection

The Daily Scrum has been redesigned to revolve around the Sprint Goal, with adaptation linkage items added directly to the Sprint Backlog. The legacy "daily update" model is gone.

🔍 Sprint Review & Retrospective Enhancements

Improved Sprint Review (active Sprints listing, multiple Increments inclusion) and Retrospective (active Sprints listing) flows.

⏱️ Event Timeboxes

Timeboxing for Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Retrospective — with configuration and tracking built in.

📋 Sprint Planning & Execution

Save and resume in-progress Sprint Planning, quick PBI "done" marking on the Sprint Board (gated by DoD verification), and a simplified Sprint generation flow.

📊 Dashboard & Reports + 🌐 i18n Notifications

Enhanced dashboards and reports, plus full i18n support for notifications across all five locales.

⚠️ Breaking Changes

Please review these carefully before upgrading:

1. Daily Scrum redesigned — now goal-focused around the Sprint Goal. The legacy "daily update" model is removed; clients must adopt the new Daily Scrum API and Sprint Backlog linkage model.
2. Sprint closure gates — Sprint Review and Retrospective must be completed before a Sprint can be closed.
3. REVIEW task state added — a new workflow state between the previous active states and DONE.
4. Role DEVELOPER renamed to DEVELOPERS — updated across API payloads, permissions, and UI.
5. Data model consolidation — the Prisma schema has been consolidated and simplified, merging initial migrations.
