Folders disappearing from web UI until restart

I uploaded a folder of some 25 pictures to opencloud and was browsing it. After I left the folder, it disappeared from the ui! It wasn't in the trash. I logged out and logged back in, and it still wasn't there.

So, I ran docker compose down, then I looked into the data directory. My folder was still there! So I ran docker compose up -d again and all was resolved, and folder showed up again in the ui.

Any ideas what may have caused this? This kind of scares me...I was lucky to notice it this time and grab the data directly. But I'm wondering if this can result in data loss if it happens again and I don't notice it. I've tried to reproduce it with the same folder and files but can't.

I do have daily backups, but if it gets lost in the same day, I'm out of luck.

Running in orbstack M1 mac mini with keycloak, traefik, and collabora all on the latest repo version.

Are there any logs I can provide? What's the best way to diagnose this?

Can you please verify that you're running the latest docker image? This sounds a lot like #2220 which has been fixed in v5.0.1.

I am on 4.0.3. I thought that was the latest stable release?

@aduffeck i read through the issue you linked, and 24 minutes was nearly exactly what I experienced. 4.0.3 has the same TTL issue: https://github.com/opencloud-eu/opencloud/blob/v4.0.3/services/storage-users/pkg/config/defaults/defaultconfig.go#L174

@edernunez61 yes, the wrong TTL setting was always there, but it wasn't being applied until 5.0. Is is possible that you started opencloud 5.0 (rolling) on the same volumes at some point and then went back to the stable line? That would explain why your nats buckets ended up with the 24 minutes TTL.

You can verify that this is the actual problem by adding the nats-cli sidecar as described in #2220 (comment) then then running

docker compose exec nats-cli nats kv info ids-storage-users -s opencloud:9233

It'll likely have 24m set for the max. age. The fix is then still

docker compose exec nats-cli nats kv edit --ttl=0 ids-storage-users -s opencloud:9233
