Does this support http export to Collector?

Does this require a local jeager agent in order to for it to export the spans to the collector or can it work with collector in a remote host directly ?

As per this https://www.jaegertracing.io/docs/1.8/deployment/
port 14268 of collector can accept binary thrift spans directly instead of going via agent
