Blocked by Smart Screen

When trying to run the app (self contained and not), Microsoft Defender SmartScreen stops the app from running. Due to device restrictions there is no way around this. It appears to be blocking it due to the Publisher being unknown.

Hi @bensim123 , this has been an ongoing problem for a while. Resolving it requires the purchase of a certificate, something I have postponed so far. Reviewing again what options and costs for this are to determine if I want to proceed with it

Work around for me was to right click on the exe and ticket a box that said "unblock" and then it would launch.

I am a local admin on my work laptop though, so not sure if this applies to everyone.

Unfortunately, we have things locked down pretty tightly where that wasn't an option. It took a bit of work (as there were some errors, can't remember what they were) to compile it using Visual Studio Code, that I got it to run that way.
