Your idea
First of all, congratulations and thank you for creating ThunderAI. The automatic tagging feature is extremely useful and has allowed me to build an email-triage workflow in Thunderbird.
I would like to suggest making it possible to configure the Add Tags feature separately for each email account.
At present, it is possible to choose the accounts where automatic tagging is enabled, but the tagging configuration appears to be shared between all enabled accounts.
Different professional mailboxes may require different:
- prompts and classification rules;
- existing-tag allow-lists;
- maximum numbers of tags;
- automatic-tagging behaviour;
- AI models or integrations.
For example, one account may use tags for executive attention and business projects, while another account may need an entirely different set of tags and classification rules.
It would therefore be useful to select an email account in the Add Tags settings and maintain an independent configuration for each account. A global default configuration with optional account-specific overrides could also work well.
Please let me know if this functionality already exists or if there is another recommended way to achieve account-specific tagging configurations.
Value
This would make automatic tagging practical for users who manage multiple email accounts with different roles, organisations, or workflows.
Account-specific settings would improve:
- classification accuracy, because each mailbox would use its own context and rules;
- usability, by preventing unrelated tags from appearing across accounts;
- privacy and governance, by keeping organisation-specific instructions separate;
- cost control, by allowing different models or automatic-processing policies per account;
- flexibility, while still allowing a global default for users who prefer a simpler setup.
This would allow ThunderAI to support several professional mailboxes reliably without requiring separate Thunderbird profiles or manual reconfiguration when switching accounts.
