I think that it would be useful to have an element for preview which would provide a smaller version of an image, a series of photos from a subject video, or a general representation of a subkect file.
This would be particularly useful for sharing of medias in at once (in batch) over chat and messaging platforms such as IRC and XMPP.
It was rejected by some XMPP developers, on of which is of Conversations, probably because they did not realize the potential of this feature, or because there is no XEP for Metalink, as of yet.
