Enhancement - specifying the # of rows/columns vs # of boards

The majority of my projects are scaled to fit a canvas, not a board. For instance, a 12x12 canvas is 62 beads vertically and 62 horizontally. A 16x20 is 82 across and 103 vertically, etc.

I can't figure out a way to configure the size except for anything that is a default board size. It would be wonderful to enter the exact size of the project versus being arbitrarily constrained by the board dimensions. I haven't been able to figure out what the "Maximize" option does, but maybe it's that in a way? It lags on my computer too much and I can't figure out its purpose. Thanks -

The "Maximize" feature works by converting each individual pixel into a bead. So for example, if your input image is 128×128 pixels, it will generate a project with 128×128 beads, using as many boards as needed to support that size.

In your case, it sounds like your input image is fairly large, which can lead to performance issues, especially when "Maximize" tries to render that many beads all at once. That would explain the lag you’re experiencing.

To get the result you're aiming for, try scaling your image down to 62×62 pixels first, before using the "Maximize" option. That way, the final bead layout will match your target size and be much faster to generate.
