core update 2025.11-change status TV from off to unavailable

Hello.
After the core 2025.11 update, there was a backwards incompatible change in LG webOS TV: The state of LG webOS TV media player entities that do not have an automation trigger to turn on the device will be set to unavailable instead of off.
With this change, the TV can no longer be turned on with the remote control, because the TV entity no longer has an OFF state. Could this be fixed, because your remote control is simply perfect?
I created a sensor template that will override the unavailable state for me, but I can't use it with your remote control, I'm just an HA user and not a programmer :-)

another happy user here. Would be awesome if you could fix it. My temporary workaround is having a simple button card next to it for turning it on. Tried to use the button override function on your card to call the service but doesn't seem to work.

The button mapping works exactly according to the remote control documentation, add the code to the existing code like I did. I now turn on the TV with the record button, which I don't use at all.

This doesn't seem to work though? Am i missing something? And why would you bind the record button and not the powerbutton?

edit: it was the dash before the button. so no "- POWER" but "POWER

You have an email, so let's not discuss it here in issues.Here is a list and method of keys that can be remapped. The power button is not in the list, so it cannot be mapped.

The power button is not in the list, so it cannot be mapped.

The POWER is there at the end of the list; I tried it and managed to turn it on.
The problem with it is that the button only works one way — if I turn it on with POWER, I can’t turn it off.
For me right now, the RECORD button turns it on and the POWER button turns it off.

i had same issue, but i managed to find a workaround. i created a script which turns on OR turns off the tv.

Seems like this remote is abandoned, so for anyone looking for a simple solution, you can edit the JS file directly. Use the File Editor addon in HASS to open:

/homeassistant/www/community/LG-WebOS-Remote-Control/lg-remote-control.js

Go to line 302 and change:

 ${"off"===t.state

To:

 ${"on"!==t.state

Save the file, reload HA, and you're good to go.

This issue can be fixed by creating an automation where device is the TV and trigger is "Device is requested to turn on". Reload automations and the TVs state should go from unavailable to off again.

@igi8819, I have tried this but when I reload HA and press the power button it gives an error message that the script can’t be found. Any advice?

@HikinenM, tried this as well. Unfortunately it makes the tv unusable with other requests. For example, when my wife wants to stream Spotify music (connect from Spotify app on her phone to the TV Spotify app) it automatically shuts down. Like somehow it contradicts the automation. She isn’t using HA (yet) since I just started implementing it in our house.
