A sample Android app exploring Jetpack Navigation 3,

built to understand its routing model and evaluate adoption for production use.

Overview

Navigation 3 is a Compose-first navigation library that replaces string-based routes with type-safe @Serializable data classes. This sample covers its core concepts — routing, back stack management, and deep links — as a reference before migrating a production app.

Getting Started

git clone https://github.com/komodgn/compose-nav3-sample.git

Open in Android Studio and run.

Version Note

Navigation 3 requires a compatible Compose BOM. This project uses:

Library Version
Navigation 3 1.0.0
Compose BOM 2025.09.01 (compose-bom-alpha)
Activity Compose 1.9.3
Lifecycle 2.10.0

Using a newer Compose BOM (e.g. 2026.xx.xx) will cause runtime crashes due to navigationevent version conflicts.
