Visual adjacency sometimes differs from logical adjacency (whatever logic is used to determine left and right (or above and below, where vertical tabs are used)).
This might be more noticeable where a user's management of tabs includes extensions that alter the visuals. I think first of extensions that can:
Also noticeable where order is changed manually? (Control-Shift-Page up, for example.) I'm not sure.
