How does frame pausing interact with page lifetime events?

What happens if a paused frame is removed from the document? Does beforeunload fire? Does unload fire? Do they fire in this situation currently?

I'm inclined to say that if the frame isn't unpaused before unloading then it shouldn't get to run beforeunload. If it's important that a frame be unloaded, then the embedding page can unpause it in its beforeunload.
