Make selecting the wallpaper select the whole screen

Selecting the wallpaper is a convenient way to select the whole screen in slop, a patch for it exists here, made by @Vizs

Another solution (perhaps on top of this, perhaps on it's own) could be to have a specific button select the whole screen instead, middle click maybe

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I find that the behavior of clicking to select a window is slightly unintuitive at present, I've been contemplating making it modal, wherein pressing space or something would change modes, and an overlay would be drawn over the hovered window and then clicking would confirm, and hovering the wallpaper would thus lead to a fullscreen selection.

I do have to admit that this patch was a quick dirty thing that I came up with in ten minutes so this might not be the best way to implement the said feature.

If I may, I think making crud modal would make it unnecessarily complex and hard to use. The best thing about crud is the simplicity of its behaviour. Changing the default behaviour to one that involves a keyboard defeats the purpose of a mouse driven program such as crud.

My objection might be selfish though since I use crud for things that aren't for selection, like drawing a rectangle on screen as a method of resizing a window -- I do this when I'm already using my mouse. You could make it modal by using the mouse. However, I don't think it would be very intuitive.

As for clicking to select a window, I think the behaviour is intuitive; I click a window in a program that selects a part of my screen so it grabs the dimensions of the window.

Lastly, thanks for merging my patch :) I really do appreciate it.

If the consensus is that it isn't broken then I won't attempt to fix it, in that case I will merge the root window click = fullscreen patch this weekend. It's also super cool to hear you have a use for it that isn't taking screenshots!

I agree with vizs, making it modal doesn't seem necessary.
