AddToStartup.bat doesn't seem to work anymore

For a few weeks now, AddToStartup.bat seems to have no effect, i.e. I need to run AltAppSwitcher.exe manually each time I start Windows.

Can you check "Task scheduler", look for AltAppSwitcher task and share "program/script" and "Start in"

Also, can you try running the .bat as administrator and see if if changes anything? Maybe an old task with is registered as admin with wrong location.

I realized the AltAppSwitcher task wasn't there because AddToStartup.bat was failing silently on my system. (I had always double-clicked it, so the window closed before I could see the error).

Running it directly from the command prompt revealed the issue:

C:\Program Files (x86)\AltAppSwitcher>AddToStartup.bat
\AltAppSwitcher\AltAppSwitcher.exe</Command> was unexpected at this time.

It turns out the closing parenthesis in the (x86) folder path was prematurely breaking the multi-line (...) > "%xmlFile%" block when using standard variable expansion.

I fixed it by switching those specific lines to use delayed expansion (!).

Changed this:

echo       ^<Command^>%fullPath%^</Command^>
echo       ^<WorkingDirectory^>%workDir%^</WorkingDirectory^>

To this:

echo       ^<Command^>!fullPath!^</Command^>
echo       ^<WorkingDirectory^>!workDir!^</WorkingDirectory^>

Works like a charm now!
