I'd say we need to do much more than review - we need to learn how our chips work, and why esp-idf does what esp-idf does. What we have is mostly a 1:1 import of that code from random points in time, without any follow-up changes/fixes applied. At least one percieved issue exists: for some chips we clear SYSTEM_CPU_WAIT_MODE_FORCE_ON, for others we keep the bit set.
