weird touchpad setting

I use an external keyboard with a dongle, connected to my laptop. What happens is that my touchpad doesn’t work. After checking, I found that in the touchpad settings I had ticked the option “when mouse is connected.” Strangely, it seems this setting assumes that any device using a dongle is a mouse. In reality, I didn’t connect a mouse, but an external keyboard.
