Dead project?

It looks like nobody has touched this project in over 6 months, and nobody has commited anything to the repo in over 3 years, despite there being many open issues and several open pull requests. Is anyone still interested in developing? I'm happy to fork and continue development if @einmalfel isn't going to continue it.

Please comment or react to this post if you're interested in working on this app.

New commits are always a good thing. Even if the original author doesn't accept it, you can start a fork

Thanks @ildar. I've got a fork going over at https://github.com/shanemd/PodListen. So far I've managed to fix the build on the 'master' branch, and I've populated it with issues that I would have posted here.

I also sent @einmalfel an email asking if he's interested in reviving this project or not. If I don't hear back, I guess I'll just keep going on the fork. You're welcome to join me over there.

Hi! Please excuse me being so slow on replies. I still use PodListen every day, but I have been failing to find time for PodListen development during last 4 years. I doesn't seem like this is going to change soon, so please feel free to fork PodListen. I'll be happy to help if you get any questions about the code

I do have some questions for you:

1. How did you update the PodcastCatalogue.sqlite database? Do you have a script or something? What service did you query to get the data?

2. How would you like me to go about publishing new releases?

I could publish it as a completely new app (new application ID, new project, new signing key, maybe new name and logo to prevent confusion?). This would require existing users to migrate their data to the new app. I'm not sure how to migrate all the data, but here's an open issue if you have ideas. shanemd#14

Or I could publish it as a new version of the existing app. I think publishing on the existing app would require you to share your signing key with me, as well as any credentials or permissions needed for f-droid and Google Play. I've never published to f-droid or Google Play before, so I don't know what is required.

What would you recommend?

Is this fork continuing, or is it too dead? There are some features missing that are required to bring this app up to basic usability:

• Sort play list by podcast AND in transmission order. You can sort by podcast now, but it doesn't retain the order of the episodes within a podcast, making the feature useless
• Sort play list alphabetically. In a nice piece of irony, the sort icon is labelled "A..Z", one universal sign of sorting, but alphabetical sorting is actually not an option.
• Select multiple items in the play list for deletion. Deleting one by one with a tap-and-hold action is tedious.

Hi @VA1DER . Those all sound like excellent feature requests / bug reports. I encourage you to submit them as issues. I don't have a lot of development time, but I am monitoring this fork and will continue to reply and accept pull requests as needed and as I have the time.
