adding type annotations

What is the appetite for adding type annotations to this repo?

I think it would really benefit from this, but it would be a big job, would need to be done incrementally, and I want to gauge the level of interest before I invest any energy into it

Strongly typed attributes is a pre-requisite for ReqIF implementation. I've been putting it off because of other priorities, and the fact that as you say, it's a big job.

I've worked on introducing it incrementally in the past. General strategy is to introduce 'strict' mypy linting for the repo, but add a whitelist which excludes all the errors. Then gradually shrink the whitelist until it can be removed entirely.
But retrofitting type annotations needs deep knowledge of the repo, and often a lot of refactoring. That needs buy in and input from long term maintainers
