How to stop using vnms_remote file

How do I turn off the vnms_remote file?

I no longer see my notes. I do not want to be forced to use someone else's notes.

I have also found that the VNMs file is hardly updated and I have been keeping mine current. The 2.0 file is already missing zones.

I'll create a version that gives you the option to turn that off. If you have an updated vnm.lua and don't mind sharing it, please create a PR.
