How do I download a specific version of a package?

Is there a way to download a specific version of a package? This will be important for trace-ability if we are using packages for calculating values used in clinical decision making, and for reproducibility for publication.

If release versions of packages could be tagged in some way, we would know which version we are using.

You can tag specific points of history in the repository with releases, but they apply to the entire repository. Would we want to do this for specific packages, e.g. just for the Gait Profile Score?
