I worked with Robert some before September 2021 and he helped me get objecticon working on Haiku OS.
He fixed other issues for me on OpenBSD and Linux.
He also corrected some bugs in Flowterm.
He has done a wonderful job with this.

After building on a Linux box, you can use target make tar.
It will create objecticon-9179.tar.gz
I use this on Devuan, OpenBSD, OpenIndiana, Haiku and FreeBSD.

I would also like to know if you have heard from him.

I am sorry I disappeared. I caught COVID at the beginning of 2024 and have been off computers until very recently. In fact I had to abandon my tower PC Gentoo installation and am only now (late 2025) reconstructing from scratch with NixOS on mini PCs.

I grabbed the sources when nothing new appeared for a long time and then I saw something about a coroner’s inquest, though I cannot find the reference now.

I am elderly and disabled and really would recommend forking the sources. I cannot be depended on to care for them myself. But I do hope my pointing out bugs is helpful. And I have contributed Object Icon examples and a description of the language to Rosetta Code.

My only connection with Icon projects is with Unicon. I got Unicon working on x86_64 (with Clint Jeffrey) and wrote the x86_64 context switcher for it (which also works in Arizona Icon, but they have dropped all switchers but pthreads). Of course Object Icon requires no context switcher, which is a good thing.

He helped me get it working on Haiku.

I would like to know what happened to him.

A patch for objecticon for anybody.

Cleans build for newer compilers.
