Test against old collect

Need to fix the tests which check that the old version of collect gives the same results.

Once I have a backwards compatible API function then this should be even more explicit.

I think this can be closed as #55 has been merged. Further tests using backwards compatible collect() function will be added in #59, but this is covered by #9.
