Investigate "native" running options from the point of view of improving performance

Of course this is only going to be a crude type of comparison since the only good way would be to have a production stack with user based load hitting it.

• Extend load test scripts with a bit more meat to enable some kind of benchmarking.
• Update to the latest LTS version of the JVM for the when taking a base line.
• Look into Kotlin Native and what Ktor can offer
