Google Summer of Code (GSoC) 2026

Last year the DataFusion project participated in the Google Summer of Code project: github.com//issues/14478

There have been a regular series of inquiries on discord about if DataFusion will participate in the program this year. In my opinion, if we want to do this we need a champion who will spearhead the project and get our application together by Feb 3.

Is anyone interested in running the administrative part of this project?

What information is required in the application due by Feb 3? How much could we re-use from previous years application?

That does not seem appropriate. I think we would need someone who was interested in mentoring to run the program, ideally someone who is already a committer or PMC member.

I suggest leaving this discussion topic open until the deadline, in case anyone wants to jump in at the last minute to run the project. Otherwise I think we should probably take down our GSoC page on our web page to avoid confusion.
