ContextType

An experimental Android keyboard and posture-sensing application designed to improve mobile typing accuracy.

Overview

ContextType (and "PostureSenseTap") explores how mobile typing accuracy can be improved by accounting for user posture and grip. It includes a "Keyboard Shrinker" utility and leverages language models to refine input prediction based on contextual and postural data.

Features

  • Posture-Aware Typing: Refines touch targets based on whether the user is using their left hand, right hand, or index finger.
  • Keyboard Shrinking: Experiments with dynamic keyboard resizing and positioning.
  • Language Model Integration: Uses localized and global language models to improve word prediction.
  • Data Logging: Includes utilities for logging tap data for research analysis.

Technical Details

  • Platform: Android (Legacy Eclipse ADT project)
  • Language: Java
  • Key Classes:
    • KeyboardShrinker.java: Logic for dynamic keyboard adjustment.
    • LanguageModelDatabase.java: Storage for n-gram or frequency-based models.
    • TapsActivity.java: Experimental interface for collecting typing data.
