The future of Hassio Nextcloud Backup #281

Description

@Sebclem

Hello everyone, sorry for not being very active lately.

I will take this issue to explain what I was initially planing and why I'm currently thinking of changing the way I'll go with Nextcloud backups.

Initial plan
Has some have seen, since 2022, I was rebuilding from scratch this plugin to implement Typescript and a new frontend in VueJs. This new version had a lot of long asked feature like Chunked upload (to prevent 413 errors), multiple cron settings etc...
It was really near release during end of the year holidays, I was testing it on my personal instance for 2 mouth without major issue.

What happened in January 2025 ?
Home assistant 2025.1.
For those who don't know, HA 2025.1 added a lot of features for backup directly into HA (automatic backup, remote location etc...) So know a lot of the feature off this add-on is now directly into HA, the only thing missing is... the Nextcloud connector.

So what now ?
To be honest, I'm seriously thinking of building a Nextcloud backup component so that we can do backup to Nextcloud directly with the native backup tool of HA. Or even, why not a generic webdav component ?
One again, I'll be honest with you: I don't have much time lately. So this is not going to be any time soon unless I find time to do this.
And the other thing is that I'm not very confident, is my capacity to build test that are now needed for new component in HA, so I'll maybe need help for this part.

What if i want to test/use the rebuild of this plugin ?
You can, simply add this repository to your HA: https://github.com/Sebclem/sebclem-hassio-addon-repository#main
You'll see a new Nextcloud Backup add with a version like this: main.xxx

So tell me what you guy are thinking about all this.
