Adminer packages browsing, editing, and administering a database — running queries, managing users and permissions, exporting and importing data — into one dependency-free PHP file you copy to a server and open in a browser. It supports MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MS SQL, Oracle, and Elasticsearch/MongoDB through plugins, and ships with dozens of community-contributed design themes.

The project is dual-licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and GPL v2, and is developed in the open on GitHub. A companion project, Adminer Editor, offers a stripped-down interface aimed at letting non-technical end users edit data without exposing the rest of the schema.

Canal works by sending a MySQL master the same dump protocol handshake a real replica would, then reading and parsing the resulting binlog stream — giving downstream systems a low-latency feed of every row-level change without querying the source database directly. Typical uses include cross-datacenter mirroring, cache and search-index invalidation, and feeding change events into custom processing pipelines, with official client libraries for Java, Go, C#, PHP, Python, Rust, and Node.js talking to the canal server over Protocol Buffers.

It's developed by Alibaba and released under the Apache License 2.0, with an optional web admin console (canal-admin) for managing multiple canal instances. It officially supports MySQL 5.1 through 8.0.

Flyway migrates a database schema by running ordered SQL (or Java-based) migration scripts against it and recording each one in a schema history table, so it always knows exactly what state a given database is in. It's built around six core commands — Migrate, Info, Validate, Baseline, Repair, and Clean — and ships as a standalone CLI, a Docker image, and plugins for Maven and Gradle, alongside official support for MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and dozens of other engines.

The Community edition is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. Flyway was originally created by Boxfuse and has been maintained by Redgate since 2019, which also offers paid Teams and Enterprise editions that add features like schema drift detection, undo migrations, and a visual schema designer on top of the open-source core.

goose tracks schema changes as sequentially numbered "up"/"down" migration files, written either as plain SQL or as Go functions, and applies or rolls them back in order while recording progress in a version table. Migrations can be embedded into a Go binary with `go:embed` and run programmatically, which makes it a common choice for shipping schema changes alongside a Go application rather than as a separate deployment step.

Maintained by Pressly and released under the MIT License, it supports MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, ClickHouse, YDB, Vertica, and several other SQL databases through pluggable drivers.
