[Question] What are the issues preventing to use USB cameras (besides GPHOTO support)

So, I've seen some nice IMX298 usb cameras out there and I want to add support for them.
What are the issues that prevent to use them?

Also, how I can contribute?

The main issue for me is to test and implement individual drivers and cameras and thus i heavily rely on either individual contribution or camera stacks like gphoto2 or libcamera.
But if you have the existing drivers, it is actually very easy to implement via the node-red editor. A "quick and dirty" integration could be one-liner (and uncommenting some existing lines). The work starts when you want to use the settable parameters (like shutter, contrast, crop ...).
