When a pack contains <csolution> templates, then the 'built in' templates are not shown

Current behavior, Steps to reproduce and Expected behavior

We are starting to deploy <csolution> templates in our .pdsc files, and we are seeing that when we do that, the Create Solution wizard stops showing the 'default' templates that was provided before, and only shows the templates provided in the pack.

In our mind it would make sense to show both the framework ones and the ones provided by the pack. Is that a wrong assumption on our part?

@xoriath thanks for raising this. I am afraid your assumption is wrong. It was a deliberate decision to remove the built-in "Blank Solution" and in case of TZ enabled devices also the "TrustZone Solution" templates. The reasoning is that hardware specific templates are provided by a SiP to provide a solid out of the box user experience for new projects pre-configuring must have, essential files, selections and configurations.
There is nothing preventing a SiP to provide additional templates to cover various types of solution projects, however we thought by not displaying the default templates, we prevent users from selecting those when dedicated templates are provided.

What are the benefits of the default templates in your opinion compared to custom templates?

We just noticed this on TZ parts where we provide blank solutions in the pack, but we had not planned on providing TZ solutions since the default ones seems to work perfectly well ...
