Am I getting it wrong on Codex App?

Trying to understand how codex-auth work but fail :/

I'm using Codex app on Windows.

1. Got logged account in Codex app, then "codex-auth import" json
2. Logged out from Codex app, logged in second account then again "codex-auth import" json
3. Did "codex-auth switch 2", it switched account. But when I start Codex app it shows blank codex app window like it's stuck.

Switching back to 1 account made codex app open first account and worked. Switching to second account never works.
"codex-auth list" always shows second account usage as 401 api code. Login via second account manually in Codex app works as expected.

Am i doing something wrong? Codex cli is not installed so "codex-auth login" does nothing except cli error

I also encountered a similar white screen issue after the latest GPT-5.5 release, but it worked normally after logging in again.

It might be the openai backend issue.

Your steps are correct, but adding accounts is much easier after installing codex-cli. Each time you add an account, just run codex-auth login and the account will be imported automatically. There's no need to manually log out each time—simply close the codex app and restart it.

Was having it on 5.4 too. I thought about installing cli, but would be cool to find somehow avoid that blank issue. Maybe App also stores auth data somewhere except auth.json

This may be caused by using “Log out” in the Codex app. If you used “Log out”, Codex may revoke that account’s authorized access token. After the token is revoked, codex-auth list will show that account as 401.

For adding another account, I recommend using codex login or codex-auth login, then restarting the Codex app. After restarting, the Codex app should pick up the new account, and the previous account should not become 401 as long as its token has not been revoked.
