A download manager for GNOME. Built with GTK 4 and libadwaita.
From FlatPark (recommended, gets updates via flatpak update):
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flatpark https://dl.flatpark.org/flatpark.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flatpark io.github.linuxuser67.GrabOr manually from the latest release:
flatpak install --user Grab.flatpakThe sandbox ships without access to browser profiles. When you pick a browser
under Preferences → Authentication → Cookies from Browser and its profile is
unreachable, Grab shows the exact flatpak override command to grant
read-only access — or run the equivalent yourself:
flatpak override --user --filesystem=~/.config/<browser-dir>:ro io.github.linuxuser67.GrabUndo with flatpak override --user --reset io.github.linuxuser67.Grab.
Grab fetches yt-dlp and Deno from upstream GitHub releases and the stable
gallery-dl Linux executable from the official Codeberg releases. Flatpak
builds provision the latest stable Deno release for YouTube extraction;
tarball/dev builds require a supported Deno installation. Preferences → Check
for Updates keeps these tools current. FFmpeg and ffprobe are resolved from
/app/bin or the GNOME runtime on Flatpak, or from system PATH on other
builds. Grab does not download or update FFmpeg. yt-dlp and Deno are verified
against the SHA-256 digests published in their release metadata; gallery-dl is
verified against the official SHA256SUMS file attached to its Codeberg
release. A missing or invalid digest refuses the install.
That digest detects corrupted or truncated downloads, not a compromised release — it shares the release's trust root. If you need a separate trust root, install the tools from your distribution instead.
Send browser downloads and links straight to Grab with the
Grab browser extension
(for Chromium-based browsers and Firefox): automatic download interception with a
configurable minimum size, toolbar button, Alt+G shortcut, and a right-click
menu.
The extension hands downloads to Grab over a local HTTP endpoint
(127.0.0.1:9412), so there is nothing to install on the Grab side and it
works from the Flatpak. Grab only accepts requests addressed to the loopback
host and, when a browser sends an Origin, only from a browser extension.
Unless auto-add is enabled in Preferences, each handoff asks for confirmation.
Flatpak-only.
