Description

The project has 181 markdown documentation files that need consolidation.

Current State

• Many redundant/outdated planning documents
• Hard for new contributors/agents to understand the codebase
• Scattered information across too many files

Proposed Solution

1. Audit all markdown files
2. Identify core documentation that should be kept
3. Archive obsolete planning documents
4. Consolidate related docs into single files
5. Update CLAUDE.md and README with current structure

Acceptance Criteria

• Reduced number of markdown files (target: <30 essential docs)
• Clear documentation structure
• Updated index/TOC in main docs
• Archived historical planning docs (not deleted, just organized)

Summary

• Added a documentation map to the root README and a new docs/README.md index so readers can navigate the consolidated archives while keeping the essential surface area under 30 files.
• Collapsed architecture, guides, implementation, research, roadmap, deployment, planning, subsystem, and legacy references into consolidated archives, reducing tracked markdown files to 19 while preserving all historical content.
• Updated CLAUDE.md and the project-management start guide to point to the new consolidated locations and checklist references.

Testing

• ⚠️ pip install -q -r requirements.txt (failed because the environment blocked access to PyPI via the proxy, preventing dependency installation).
• ⚠️ Not run (documentation-only changes).
