Is it possible to convert other .kast files besides image files?

At the moment, KastViewer only supports viewing texture files inside archives.
I’m aware that some files may contain 3D models or other asset types, but parsing and converting them (e.g., into FBX or similar formats) is quite complex and not something I’m currently interested in working on.

This project is meant to be a lightweight tool focused on textures, so I don’t plan to support model files for now.
But I may consider looking into it in the future if there's enough interest.

I needed the extraction for the translation, but I noticed a new project.

If you're looking to extract story or dialogue text for translation, those are actually not stored in .kast files. Instead, they are located in .rbr files, which are used for storing scenario and script data.

You can refer to Issue #8 for more information about that format and possible tools or approaches.

RPG Developer Bakin has a localization feature.
So, I unpacked the data.repack file, imported it into RPG Developer Bakin, translated it, and then repacked it.
However, files with the .kast extension become corrupted (especially textures) after repacking.
That's why I only needed to convert the non-image files.

I think it's not necessary to import the files into RPG Developer Bakin and repack them if your goal is only to translate the game.
You can check out my other project, BakinTranslate, which provides a way to translate the game without repacking anything.

In general, I don’t recommend using RPG Developer Bakin to modify unpacked files directly, as it may cause unexpected issues — like the corrupted .kast files you mentioned.
