I'm wondering if it's possible to open the expander on the top of the selected thumbnail's row instead on opening it on the bottom?

@ASTN1 I repeat: at moment it's not possible and this change is not simple so it requires a small refactor and I have no time and motivation to change this behavior. Pull requests are welcome and I will keep this issue opened but I will not work on this feature

Of course I wasn't asking you to rebuild the plugin, but if you could have an idea of a way to do the modification in a simple way and without altering the plugins core, e.g. with a mix of css and jquery hacks.

I understand that you don't want/ cannot spend time on this, though.
