dir NUL shows a matching file

When I run dir nul FreeCOM displays a file entry. On dosemu2 mfs-redirected drives this has 0 bytes in size and the current date and time. On a diskette drive or SRDISK RAM drive it's 45_334 bytes in size instead. lMS-DOS command.com doesn't find any file on dir nul
