Updates for Bluetooth versions? #17

Hi I love this repo and the idea of customized firmware. I think they could sell a lot more of these devices by opening things and letting the FOSS community customize the platform. The newer bluetooth low energy (btle) models have a lot of potential but the firmware cripples things.
I'm trying to patch the existing firmware to let the device sit blank in bluetooth mode listening for commands and display changes. Lots of forum threads show people want this functionality. Building your own solution with Arduino kits isn't nearly as cost effective.
I've been spending some time trying to reverse engineer a few 11x44 models. The unit in the picture appears to be a MindMotion ARM Cortex-M0 MM32W073 at 48mhz which is pretty darn powerful for $8. Similar to a Raspberry Pi Pico but with an LED screen and bluetooth built in.
Has anyone asked the vendors about firmware documents? Maybe it's worth an inquiry.
